About Placenta Services

Placenta Tincture

Placenta Encapsulation

Placenta Encapsulation

Placenta tincture is made by steeping dehydrated placenta powder in a high proof alcohol for 6 weeks. Alcohol helps extract the nutrients and hormones present in the powder and can preserve it for many years. We recommend using your tincture when you get your period back, during times of trauma, transition, emotional stress feel like you need hormone support, or are worried about milk supply.

Placenta Encapsulation

Placenta Encapsulation

Placenta Encapsulation

Placenta encapsulation is the process where the placenta is turned into a powder form and put into pill capsules to be ingested postpartum.

Placenta Salve

Placenta Encapsulation

Umbilical Cord Keepsake

Your placenta salve is not only infused with placenta but also herbs that are traditionally used for healing skin tissue. Placenta has long been used in skincare for its healing and restorative properties. There are a number of expensive anti-aging lotions and creams containing “sheep placenta extract” as the secret ingredient. Your own placenta is much more potent and completely safe to use topically when properly prepared.

Placenta Art Print

Umbilical Cord Keepsake

Cord Keepsake Necklace

Placenta art is a beautiful way to remember your placenta and the life it gave to your baby. This one of a kind art print is made with your placenta using food-grade dye and set on high-quality watercolor paper. We can make it just about any color of the rainbow. Since food-grade dye was used during the process, you can add this on to any placenta preparation services.

Do you want to honor the placenta that grew your baby, but don’t want to consume it? Many cultures have placenta planting ceremonies.

Placentas are thought to be one of the purest forms of organic fertilizer you can use. It is nutrient dense, and enriches the soil.

Postpartum is Hard!

Postpartum Fatigue

Postpartum fatigue effects up to 70% of women and contributes to poor health, irritability, and inability to concentrate. It is also linked to iron deficiency, anemia, inflammation, and thyroid dysfunction.

Iron Deficiency

Iron deficiency affects more than 50% of women of reproductive age, and has a negative impact on mother/baby interactions, your ability to handle stress, energy levels, and even your baby's brain function and behavioral patterns. In addition, iron deficiency is a significant factor in developing postpartum depression.

Hormonal Changes

After birth, due to the sharp drop in iron, blood, and vital nutrients & hormones, it's totally normal to feel pain, sadness, stress, and fatigue. Other common feelings include feeling depressed, sleep deprived, and unbalanced. Fortunately, your own placenta provides many benefits to help address these issues!

“Postpartum is a quest back to yourself. Alone in your body again. You will never be the same, you are stronger than you were.”

Placenta Benefits Can Be the Solution!

Why Does it Work?

Why Does it Work?

Why Does it Work?

The placenta is full of bioavailable iron, nutrients, and hormones. Iron is necessary for energy and brain function. Research shows that iron therapy significantly improves fatigue, stress, respiratory function, and symptoms of depression.

Vital Nutrients

Why Does it Work?

Why Does it Work?

Your placenta is rich in nutrients which help replenish the bodily stores that support you and your baby's health. Some of these nutrients include calcium, copper, fiber, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, vitamin B6, and zinc.

Encapsulation

Why Does it Work?

Encapsulation

With placenta encapsulation, these benefits are possible: faster healing, increased energy, afterbirth pain relief, boosted milk production, reduced postpartum bleeding, a feeling of overall wellness, improved brain function for mother and baby, and improved mood throughout your postpartum period.

How It Works

Within 24-hours of baby being born, I pick up your placenta for processing. Your placenta is then prepared, dehydrated, ground into a fine powder, and then encapsulated in organic, vegan capsules.

Heated vs. Simple Encapsulation

Heated Method

Heated Method

Heated Method

This is the most common method of placenta encapsulation.

Traditional Chinese Medicine theorizes that birthing the placenta creates cold (yin) energy within the body, and that steaming and consuming the placenta balances the body by creating a warm (yang) energy.

This method slightly lessens vital enzymes, hormones, and nutrients, but is suited for most placentas.

Process

The placenta is rinsed, steamed, cooled, then cut into thin strips and dehydrated for 8-12 hours.

Capsule Yield

Approximately 100-150 Size 0 capsules, depending on the size of the placenta and if other placenta services are performed.

Benefits

This method creates a more balanced experience, and is great for long term recovery. Consuming the placenta nourishes the body as it recovers, helps increase breastmilk supply, and decreases symptoms of postpartum anxiety and depression.

Notes

Steaming helps kill surface bacteria, so this method is recommended for placentas where surface bacterial may be present-- for example, if the placenta was exposed to meconium or afterbirth water (as in a waterbirth).

Hormones and most vitamins such as iron and selenium remain after steaming, however vitamin A, thymine, vitamin D, and some B vitamins are affected by the heating process.

The placenta can be steamed with added herbs or oils, such as lemon, pepper, ginger, frankincense, myrrh, garlic, turmeric, etc. Just ask!

Simple Method

Heated Method

Heated Method

This method provides the freshest, most potent nutrient benefits. The placenta is prepared RAW.

It is often thought that the simple method of encapsulation means that raw pieces of the placenta are somehow placed within capsules – this is not the way it works! Instead the placenta is prepared and encapsulated without being steamed or heated in any way, as some believe the placenta's nutrients may be destroyed by heat.

Process

The placenta is rinsed, cut into thin strips, and dehydrated for 18-24 hours.

Capsule Yield

Approximately 125-175 Size 0 capsules, depending on the size of the placenta and if other placenta services are performed.

Benefits

This method is excellent for immediate short-term recovery, boosted energy, and increasing iron levels after birth. This method creates a more potent experience, which some may find to be too intense.

Notes

This method is NOT recommended if infection was present during late pregnancy, labor, or birth. This method is not advised for women with history of mental illness, insomnia, anxiety, caffeine sensitivity, current or past thyroid issues, STD/STI's, pregnancy induced hypertension, pregnancy induced toxemia, pre-eclampsia, or HELLP syndrome.

Please test your sensitivity to raw capsules before beginning a strong dosing schedule. Do not take raw capsules after 5pm to ensure they do not interfere with your sleep.
